Vince Brinkhuijsen, 19, reportedly took some time apart from his mother, Irene van de Laar, 57, while they were competing together in Race Across the World, which follows a journey from Istanbul to Singapore. The distance was said to give him a break from their conversations, as his mother talks more than he does and this sometimes irritated him.
