Utrecht provincial council factions seek changes to nitrogen plan

Several factions in Utrecht’s provincial council reportedly want changes to the rural area plan, which the province intends to use to reduce nitrogen emissions and restart the licensing process. BBB wants the province to examine whether it can introduce its own so-called arithmetic lower threshold, meaning projects with limited nitrogen emissions would no longer need a permit.

The proposed adjustments are under discussion; no decision on them was reported.
