US Central Command said US forces struck the Panamanian-flagged cargo ship Ocean Molica in the Gulf of Oman after it had left Iran and allegedly failed to comply with a US blockade on ships from Iran. It said a fighter jet hit the vessel’s stern with a precision weapon. The vessel was no longer able to sail under its own power, according to US Central Command, while the crew was unharmed. One report described the ship as lost, while another said it had been brought to a halt.
