Uncertainty over Amsterdam funding for regional homelessness approach

Diemen expressed concern that Amsterdam may reduce or end its contribution to the regional approach to homelessness as part of planned cuts to social care and protected living. Amsterdam had previously contributed €1 million a year, but Diemen's budget states that the amount available from 2027 onwards is unclear, including whether it could fall to zero.

Diemen said it receives no national funding for social care and protected living and is pressing Amsterdam, as the region's central municipality, to maintain the regional approach. The municipal executive considers the uncertainty a risk and said it will inform the council when there is more clarity.
