A 62-year-old man from Heerlen was reportedly deceived last month by a young man posing as a police officer, who obtained his debit card. The card was then used to withdraw €4,700 from various ATMs.

A 95-year-old woman from Heerlen with dementia was also reportedly targeted by someone posing as a bank help-desk employee. While another person kept her on the phone and instructed her to hand over her bank card, the fake employee took the card. No amount was given for that case.
