Transport of a 345,000-kilogram transformer through Geertruidenberg

A 345,000-kilogram transformer was transported through Geertruidenberg on Monday night after arriving by ship. The load, carried on 80 wheels, travelled about two kilometres to a high-voltage substation at a maximum speed of three kilometres per hour.

The special transport drew onlookers and passed a roundabout, at some points with only a few centimetres of clearance from parked cars.
