SEW is preparing to face Maccabi Haaazim Ramat Gan in the third round of the European Cup. The West Frisian handball club is taking extra security precautions and is in contact with local authorities, according to European Cup consultant and manager Vincent Baten. He said the clubs have a good understanding and want the matches to be played safely.

Because travel to Israel is not recommended due to the unsafe situation, SEW plans to host both matches. Maccabi has agreed and wants the games to be played over one weekend. SEW is due to provide the European Handball Federation with the dates, venue and times by Friday. The ties are currently scheduled for the weekends of 7–8 and 14–15 November, with ticket sales expected to begin once the arrangements are submitted.
