A court in Den Bosch sentenced 19-year-old Emre A. to six months in prison and 240 hours of community service for a fatal crash on the Gijzenrooiseweg in Geldrop on 15 September 2025. He had driven through a red light at more than 100 km/h, killing 32-year-old cyclist Bas, who had learned five days earlier that he was to become a father. The reports differ on the length of his driving ban: one puts it at five years and the other at four and a half years.
