People in Bergen op Zoom were warned about a scam in which con artists claim that an arrest warrant has been issued for their target. The warning said criminals were becoming more inventive in attempts to take money and valuables, and that reports of this type of fraud had increased sharply in recent years.

The unveiling of a statue in the city also led to a discussion of art theft. The bronze statue had been kept indoors for three years because of fears that it could be stolen; it was then unveiled publicly.
