Sanne Mooldijk, 27, from Rotterdam won the women’s Kustmarathon, as she had done three years earlier. She finished more than three minutes ahead of the competition, but said afterwards that the race had been difficult and that she had almost suffered cramp in her calf, which she said had never happened to her before. Physical therapists were busy in the week after the marathon. The event was described as a bucket-list challenge for many participants, who were said to take significant risks for granted, with the marathon characterized as a severe strain on the body.
