The number of men taking finasteride to prevent hair loss increased by almost 50% over two years, according to the Stichting Farmaceutische Kengetallen (SFK). The medicine can slow hair loss, but reported side effects include erection problems, reduced libido and low mood. The Haarstichting also estimated that the hair-transplant market is growing.
