Rembrandt etching tattooed on Bo Kwakernaak’s back

Henk Schiffmacher’s team began tattooing a 1633 Rembrandt etching, De Kruisafneming, on the back of Bo Kwakernaak. Kwakernaak was selected from 50 applicants, and the work is expected to take about 20 hours over several sessions.

The project was linked to Schiffmacher’s planned two-week residency at Amsterdam’s Rembrandthuis at the end of October, where visitors can get Rembrandt tattoos. The completed tattoo is due to be shown during Museum Night at the Rembrandthuis on 7 November.
