Prosecutors sought a six-year prison sentence for a 23-year-old man from Nieuwegein accused of playing a leading role in a nationwide criminal group that used fake police officers to defraud victims. They alleged that he called victims, shared their addresses in chat groups and instructed the impersonators on what to take from homes. The prosecution said the group made 38 attempts between September 2024 and July 2025, succeeding in 26 cases involving jewellery, cash and bank cards.
