Prison sentence for threatening emails

A court sentenced a 46-year-old man to three months in prison for sending threatening emails in August 2025 to employees of a healthcare organisation, a college, general practitioners and the municipality. The court found that the content, volume and frequency of the messages gave reasonable grounds to fear he would carry out the threatened offences. The man said at the hearing that he had sent about 700 emails and acknowledged that they could be perceived as threatening.

Probation services assessed the risk of further threats as high. The prosecution had sought about 300 days in prison and a hospital detention order, but the court rejected the latter, partly because the victims had not been physically approached. Time already spent in custody is deducted, and he must also serve two earlier suspended sentences of 26 and six days.
