Prison sentence for damage to Keolis buses in Almere

A 24-year-old man was sentenced to two months in prison and probation after buses, two service vehicles and bus shelters were damaged at Keolis’s depot on De Steiger in Almere on 8 July. Windows were smashed and doors broken, causing damage of more than €117,000 and leaving too few buses available, which disrupted the timetable.
Camera footage and DNA evidence linked the man to the vandalism; a second, underage suspect was also arrested. The man made a limited confession and also admitted to a 2025 theft from a Jumbo supermarket in Lelystad. The judge said the senseless destruction was serious and that help for the man should be examined.
