Firearm reports in Amsterdam-West

Police deployed several vehicles and a police dog after a report of a firearm involving a group of young people near the intersection of Jan van Galenstraat and Janna van der Weglaan in Amsterdam-West at the end of September. Officers searched the group, found no firearm and recovered a ski mask. Police said the report may have stemmed from confusion over a young person who may have had a firearm the previous week, and that the incident was connected to friction and fights between groups.

Later that day, police received a report that about 20 people were walking through the area with weapons. Multiple units were deployed and gathered information, but no weapons were found. A further report of a large police presence in Osdorp followed around midnight.
