Police receive 432 tips about missing Sidney Lute

Police in North Holland have received 432 tips about Sidney Lute from Assendelft, who has been missing for ten years. At least 100 of the tips are considered highly useful and are being given priority for assessment and further investigation. The case was reopened after Lute’s mother, Natasja Alderliefste, appeared on the German television programme Aktenzeichen XY... ungelöst and offered €10,000 for the tip that leads to her son.

Lute was 19 when he left his home, where he lived with his father, at the end of October 2016 without telling his family. He told his mother he was going on holiday. After she lost contact with him in early December, she contacted police. Investigators say he bought a train ticket to the French Vosges on 10 December, but it is unclear whether he arrived there; no trace of him was found in Strasbourg. Searches have since taken place in France and elsewhere in Europe, and the investigation is ongoing.
