Police operation against distracted driving

Police carried out a two-day operation using a coach to identify drivers using mobile phones while driving. The operation resulted in 231 drivers being fined for holding a phone behind the wheel. Police also checked speeding, narcotics and so-called ghost vehicles. An earlier report on the operation said that about 100 tickets had been issued for phone use or speeding and that four driving licences had been confiscated.
