Planned Lelystad filling station still has not been built

A filling station planned by Fiets Olie on the Bijlweg near Lelystad has still not been built after more than five years, despite a banner at the site promising a 24-hour station “soon.” The company announced the project in September 2021. The required municipal environmental permit was expected in June 2022, and the water authority later confirmed that the road was clear for construction. Work has not yet started, while the site remains covered with heaps of sand and earth.

The water authority’s permit sets a deadline of 1 January 2027 for the work to be completed, although Fiets Olie may request an extension. A company spokesperson said construction would start soon and assured that the filling station would be built, but said that changes were still needed and several parties were involved. No specific construction date was provided.
