Secondary schools RSG Wolfsbos and Roelof van Echten College plan to merge administratively on 1 January 2027. They said the move responds to declining pupil numbers and other challenges that make it harder to maintain their educational offerings independently.

The participation bodies and supervisory boards of both schools have approved the plans. Hoogeveen’s municipal executive has also issued a positive recommendation.
