The cabinet has abandoned plans to replace the HRMK railway bridge in Leeuwarden, over the Van Harinxmakanaal, with an aqueduct. The decision is among measures to address multibillion-euro infrastructure funding shortfalls.

More than €80 million in national funding had been available for the project.
