Possible livestream of Nidal Hasan’s execution

State Secretary Willemijn Aerdts said the Netherlands cannot prevent footage of the planned December 3 execution of American shooter Nidal Hasan from becoming available online. One report said the Pentagon wants to livestream the execution. Aerdts said a preventive ban would likely conflict with constitutional protection of freedom of expression. She urged people who encounter the footage to report it, with reports differing on whether it should be reported to the hosting social-media platform or to the Offlimits expertise centre.

President Donald Trump approved the execution by firing squad of former US Army psychiatrist Nidal Hasan, who was convicted in 2013 of murdering 13 soldiers at Fort Hood, Texas, in 2009. The execution would be the first carried out by the US military since 1961, according to one report. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said the execution will be public and take place at Fort Hood. Other reports described the plan as a livestream accessible to the public; one report said it is scheduled for 3 December. A single report said it could be the first public execution in the United States in 90 years.
