Three days before the Gouwe railway bridge’s 148th anniversary, its movable section, dating from 1982, was transported by freighter to Friesland. There, the swing bridge is being prepared for continued use over the next hundred years. The rail connection between Alphen aan den Rijn and Bodegraven is consequently out of service for at least nine months.
