Mortgage loan of €650,000 arranged for minimum-wage homebuyer

A case at the financial complaints institute Kifid reportedly showed how mortgage fraud can work: intermediaries arranged a €650,000 loan at ING for a homebuyer earning the minimum wage. The intermediaries received a substantial fee. Research cited in the account estimated that between 1,200 and 2,100 mortgage-fraud cases occur each year.
