Unrest after pallet fire in Amsterdam-Noord
◆3 sources
A pile of wooden pallets was set alight in the Snowbalstraat area of Amsterdam-Noord late in the afternoon. Police and firefighters responded, but unrest in the area escalated and emergency workers were hindered. Police said their safety could no longer be guaranteed, prompting both services to withdraw; the fire did not then pose an immediate threat to the surroundings.
The Mobile Unit was deployed at about 9 p.m., after which firefighters were able to extinguish the fire. Footage showed a road sign being pulled from the ground and an object, possibly the sign, being thrown onto the fire. It is not known whether any arrests have been made.
