A minor boy was arrested in Heemskerk after fleeing from police on an electric scooter. Officers had stopped a group of young people following reports of nuisance on and around the Stroomwal, where bicycles and high-speed e-scooters were being ridden through the neighborhood. Two boys fled on an e-scooter when officers detained the group, and a motorcycle officer caught up with one of them at the Vlaskamp.

The e-scooter was seized because it is not permitted on public roads. The prosecution service will decide whether it is returned. Police said members of the group had ridden on roads and pavements at about 50 kilometers per hour, and that the e-scooter had reached that speed. The minor remains under arrest.
