Martini Hospital in Groningen had sought to dissolve the employment contracts of three employees in its pathology department. The dispute involved reported claims that workers had been exposed to excessive levels of a harmful substance for years, and the first hearing took place in Zwolle.

After hours of hearings, the hospital and two of the employees reached a settlement on the dissolution of their employment contracts. The status of the third employee was not reported.
