Thriller writer Linda van Rijn, whose real name is Mariëtte Middelbeek, has received the MAX Golden Bat for her entire oeuvre. The 43-year-old writer has written 40 thrillers over 15 years, selling nearly four million copies. The prize is due to be awarded on 25 October at the Dutch Thriller Festival.

Van Rijn said the award would help her reach and entertain a large group of readers. She has another book ready and does not plan to stop writing; she said she wants to write at least 40 more thrillers.
