Taxi drivers in Maastricht, Venlo and Roermond are on strike on Friday 9 October, meaning that Uber rides are not available in those cities. The action was initially announced by drivers in Maastricht before colleagues in Venlo and Roermond joined it. According to the action group Taxi Chauffeurs Maastricht, Uber’s commission on rides has in some cases reached 50% since the introduction of a variable rate.
