Lieke van Hooff, 19, from Luyksgestel, completed the five-kilometer City Run at the Marathon of Eindhoven after undergoing surgery on both legs. The operation involved breaking, twisting, straightening and pinning her legs to address hip problems linked to hip dysplasia that had been diagnosed later in life. After spending five days in hospital, Van Hooff continued her rehabilitation at home and had to relearn how to walk. She began the run without aiming for a specific time and said reaching the finish line was what mattered. She completed the course, although she expected to waddle somewhat.
