Lex Ruyssenaars leaves StrongLocal Flevoland for 50PLUS

Flevoland provincial councillor Lex Ruyssenaars of Almere has immediately left StrongLocal Flevoland (SLF) and joined 50PLUS. He reportedly made the switch because Wout Jansen is expected to be presented next Wednesday as SLF’s lead candidate, despite an alleged earlier agreement that Jansen would not return to provincial politics.

Ruyssenaars joined SLF in 2023. When Jansen became a temporary alderman in Noordoostpolder in 2024, Ruyssenaars took over as the group’s leader in the Provincial Council. Ruyssenaars informed Jansen of his departure by telephone on Saturday. Jansen said the announcement came as a complete surprise and described the switch as sad.

Residents oppose memorial site in Zilverpark

1 source

Residents of the Zilverparkkade in Lelystad asked the municipality to reconsider the planned memorial site in Zilverpark. They fear the monument could become a gathering place and worsen existing nuisance. Ronald Bogaard presented their concerns at a city council meeting on Tuesday evening. The city council selected the location in 2024, while residents of the nearby Muntstraat and Neringweg had previously objected, prompting the municipality to begin a new procedure. According to Bogaard, Zilverparkkade residents were not involved in the preliminary stage, apart from a general presentation by then-alderman Kruis in 2024. He said they learned about the proposal through the media. The municipality’s procedure is ongoing, and the residents want the site reviewed.
