Documentary on Jelte’s legacy to be released

The Netherlands came to know Sanne de Haan-Smid, 38, through Serious Request, where her five-year-old son Jelte became a symbol of the fight against metabolic diseases. His story contributed to a record fundraising total of more than €12 million. Jelte died on 16 June 2026 at the age of five. A documentary titled *Jelte’s Legacy* is scheduled for release on 12 October 2026.
