Virologist and AIDS researcher Jaap Goudsmit has written a new personal book about the influences that shaped his life. He considers whether he became who he is because of the Holocaust or because he did not know his father, and says it is too easy to blame everything on the Holocaust, which can serve as an all-purpose explanation for people who experienced it.
