Speed skater Irene Schouten, 34, is pregnant again. She and her husband became parents to their son Dirk in December 2024. About a month and a half later, Dirk was found to have a rare genetic mutation that affects his development, as well as epilepsy. He is now making significant progress and is nearly two years old. Schouten said that she and her husband were not carriers of the mutation, but that this had made her less enthusiastic about trying for a second child.
