Meppel plans to install two retractable public urinals in the city centre in 2027. The urinals will remain out of sight during the day and rise during nightlife hours, following a pilot with temporary toilets.

The facilities are intended for men only. The municipality says they are meant to help keep the city centre clean and attractive.
