Inge de Munnik walks blind to Santiago

Inge de Munnik, 65, from Den Bosch, is undertaking a walk of more than 200 kilometers to Santiago after losing her sight in 2023. She wants to show that blindness does not mean a person is unable to do anything, while stressing that blind people are not superheroes either. Her vision began deteriorating in 2016, and examinations found a benign brain tumor about the size of a mandarin. Part of the tumor remained after the first operation and later grew. Following a second operation in 2023, she woke up unable to see. She had been told there was a 60 percent chance her sight would improve, but had not expected to become blind.
