A helicopter carrying five passengers from Texel to Heiloo made an emergency landing in a meadow beside the Zwarteweg in Callantsoog. Emergency services initially feared the aircraft had crashed after bystanders reported seeing black smoke, prompting a large response involving fire trucks, ambulances and other rescue vehicles. It later became clear that the pilot had made a precautionary landing after detecting a problem with the engine. Local resident Erwin van Nieuwkoop said he saw the helicopter in the meadow and that the pilot and passengers appeared to be unharmed. He described the incident as a strange and stressful experience, while a representative of the helicopter company said the pilot had handled the situation very well.
