Haunted hotel planned in former Haarlem cookie factory

The former De Volharding bread and cake factory in Haarlem-Noord is set to become the Haunted Transue Hotel from 28 to 31 October. The attraction is designed as a 1920 hotel and haunted house by Haarlem-based American architect Adam Transue, who aims to frighten visitors in a playful way rather than leave them feeling bad.
Transue grew up in the United States, where his mother decorated the family home and made costumes for Halloween. After moving to the Netherlands, he found that Halloween was less widely celebrated and began decorating his home on Teslastraat. For the past three years, he has also built a haunted house for the neighbourhood.
