Hackers forced refrigeration defrost cycles in more than 500 French stores

Hackers reportedly forced the defrosting cycle of refrigeration equipment in more than 500 French stores, raising temperatures to as high as 50 degrees Celsius. Much of the fresh and frozen food was reportedly at risk of being discarded. The techniques believed to have been used were described as relatively simple, underscoring the need for companies to pay closer attention to the systems they connect to the internet.
