Gaël Monfils listed as retired from professional tennis

French tennis player Gaël Monfils, 40, has been placed on the International Tennis Integrity Agency’s list of retired players and is no longer covered by the sport’s anti-doping programme. The ITIA confirmed that he has been listed since 5 October. He has not publicly commented on the development.

A single report said Monfils withdrew from next week’s tournament in Lyon for personal reasons, despite having previously planned to play there, in Vienna and at the Paris Masters as part of his final season. It said the US Open now appears to have been his last tournament.
