Further investigation in Frits van Eerd appeal

The Arnhem-Leeuwarden Court of Appeal granted part of the defence's requests for further investigation in the appeal of former Jumbo chief Frits van Eerd. It will hear three witnesses, while a decision on a fourth witness awaits further information. The court will also hear car dealer Theo E. on its own initiative, and the Public Prosecution Service must add documents to the case file within three months.

Van Eerd is appealing his conviction last year to two years in prison for bribery, money laundering and forgery. He denies committing offences. The court also ordered further investigation in the cases against Theo E. and co-suspect H. Separately, it imposed a final fine of €5,000 on co-suspect T., a mortgage broker, for forgery; he had previously received a partly suspended 60-hour community-service sentence.
