France warned about military aircraft invisible to civilian air traffic control

During the US attack on Venezuela on 3 January, France warned about military aircraft in the Caribbean that were not visible to civilian air traffic control. Documents released by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs after a request under the Open Government Act said that air traffic controllers could therefore not always alert other aircraft to their presence. A near collision between a passenger aircraft and a US military tanker over Curaçao had been reported on 14 December. The military aircraft was not visible on radar, meaning civilian controllers could not ensure sufficient separation or warn the passenger aircraft in time.
