Former Rabobank building in Emmeloord gets new use
◆1 source
The former Rabobank building at De Dele in central Emmeloord has been preserved and is being converted for public services and housing. The municipality of Noordoostpolder recently opened its Werk- en Welzijnsplein on the ground floor, while renovation continues on the two upper floors for 23 apartments and 21 maisonettes. Characteristic features, including the windows, facades and the old safe door, are being retained; the safe will become a storage room for residents. Rabobank sold the building and rents only a small part of it back.
Albert Jan Schaapman, 84, worked in the building for 20 years and said he was pleased that the prominent property remained standing. He associated it with his working life at Rabobank and valued the preservation of features that recall its former use.
