Fireworks were turned in at a mobile point in Hoorn

Residents in Hoorn reportedly handed in fireworks free of charge and anonymously at a mobile collection point, despite the rain. The point was set up ahead of a planned total ban on fireworks from next year, and specialized collectors accepted a range of items, including heavy explosives, decorative and light fireworks, and emergency signal flares from a sailboat. A father who handed in his children’s fireworks said the ban made them uncomfortable but would provide greater safety for children.
