Financial hardship affects many pupils in practical education
◆1 source
At least half of pupils in practical schools reportedly grow up in relative poverty, and some cannot afford school supplies. The Youth Education Fund can help pay for items such as work shoes, aprons and bicycles. De Bolster in Groningen also provides such support, helping remove practical obstacles to pupils’ education, including difficulties getting to internships when siblings have to share a bicycle.
