Financial deficit threatens Central Station broadcasting

◆1 source

Regional broadcaster Central Station, which mainly serves Alkmaar and Dijk en Waard through radio, television and online platforms, said it was facing a €50,000 deficit for the year. It said the deficit could only be resolved with help from the municipalities, which had not yet committed funding. Aldermen wanted more information about the broadcaster’s financial situation and how the deficit arose. The broadcaster said Alkmaar and Dijk en Waard would each need to provide €25,000 before the end of the year to prevent staff dismissals and a reduction in journalistic activities. It also said it would not be able to apply to become the regional broadcaster for North Kennemerland from 2028, meaning broadcasting would stop.
