Heavy fighting continued in Ethiopia’s northern Tigray region between government forces and Tigrayan rebels. Eritrean troops were reported to have been seen in the region, while Ethiopia accused Eritrea of supporting the rebels; Eritrea denied the accusation.

One report said the fighting risked expanding into a wider conflict involving neighbouring Eritrea and described the case of Daniel Redda, a 52-year-old man living in the Netherlands whose younger brother reportedly fled after being sent to the front.
