Annelus Leijssen, 41, from Enschede, left with her family for the Malaysian island of Penang intending to stay for three years. They have now been living there for nine years. Their eldest son, Hugo, 8, was born on the island. Their daughter Emilia, 6, was also born during that period, although the circumstances were different.
