Police investigated whether a series of explosions in Amsterdam Nieuw-West, particularly in Osdorp, was linked to a possible conflict between youth groups from Osdorp and Slotermeer. Graffiti referring to Mayor Van Leeuwenlaan was found after an explosion at Bottekerksingel, which was targeted again about two weeks later. Other explosions and suspected explosives were reported in Osdorp and the Wildeman neighbourhood.

Police said online reports attributed incidents to the suspected conflict, but that the connection was still under investigation. They increased night patrols and deployed street coaches and youth workers because of residents’ fear and frustration. Mayor Femke Halsema said the explosions and youth nuisance have the highest priority, and 30 young people have been identified in connection with the situation.
