ESA develops supercomputer models to predict solar storms

The European Space Agency is using a new supercomputer in the hills below Rome to develop computer models of solar storms. The models are intended to track electrically charged particles released by eruptions on the Sun as they move toward Earth and to improve predictions of potential threats to satellites and electricity grids.
